Welcome to IXNM
Last Updated (Sunday, 30 November 2008 20:37)
IXNM was founded in 2002 by Albuquerque ISP "Spinn.Net", Clovis ISP "I-NET of New Mexico", Alamagordo ISP "NetMDC" and Albuquerque Consultant "John Brown". Our goals are simple:
1) Provide an open and neutral point where any user of the Internet may peer and exchange traffic with others.
2) Provide a "Coop like" function and aggregate backbone traffic for service provider users. Thus providing significant cost savings.
3) Provide small collocation faclitiles for service provider routers and switches, along with redundant DNS and mail MX storage.
IXNM operates under a cost-recovery for-profit model, but is managed with the input of its "members".
IXNM upgrades core infra-structure

IXNM has completed upgrading its core routing and switching infra-structure in Albuquerque. Over the Thanksgiving weekend IXNM volunteer engineers installed two new Cisco Catalyst 6509 Router / Switch.
The new configuration now supports a redundant routing path, redundant hardware, redundant switching and supervisory processors, all to further enhance IXNM's exceptional UP TIME record. The new core router/switch is presently configured to support 32 optical GigE and 48 10/100/1000 copper connections. In addition IXNM upgraded its Qwest ATM connection from a DS3 to a OC-3. IXNM has also added capacity for another OC-12 connection in preparation of its Los Angles and Seattle links.
During the upgrade IXNM installed new UPS's and tested the diverse power feeds to the new routers/switches. IXNM is retiring its legacy Cisco 7507 and 7505 core routers. "The older 75xx boxes have served the users very well with exceptional reliability and stability. Its now time for IXNM to make upgrades to support newer and faster technologies", said John Brown, IXNM's Director of Technology and Operations.
In early 2009 IXNM will augment the 6509's with 10GigE port capabilities.
State Judiciary Peers with IXNM

The New Mexico State Judiciary agrees to peer with IXNM. The State Judiciary, also known as NMCOURTS.COM, provides all of the Internet based services for the States Court system. This includes The State Supreme Court, The Court of Appeals, The District Courts, Albuquerque Metro Court and a few other courts around the state. The NMCOURTS.COM website is a heavily visited site as it provides the main interface for online case look up tools.
By peering with IXNM, the State Judiciary reduces Internet backbone bandwidth costs, significantly improves connectivity to the bulk of its instate users, and adds a level of redundancy not previously available.
The courts started out with a 3Mb/s connection and quickly upgraded the link to a 7Mb/s connection. It is expected to migrate away from ATM and over to a Metro Ethernet connection later in 2009.
All peering participants at IXNM will receive State Judiciary routes.
